Bear Hugs For This Fathers Day

Love is love no matter who or where it comes from, but a fathers love is like no other….

When I watch or listen to my husband interact with our young daughter, it instantaneously warms my soul to know he is there for her, to teach her what he has learned…whether it is counting, sounding out letters or words that are new to her, drawing the coolest versions of airplanes or animals or simple patience that she won’t even grasp for awhile.  Such things are embedded in her memory and will come back to surface time and time again as she grows into a young adult.  

No reason to hold back my watery eyes because it’s a thing of beauty and warmth…and special memories.  However, not all of us have such memories and that is alright.  There were and still are other male figures who have been and still are in our lives to love, care and guide us just as a father should and would have. Those figures I often think of, hug and see and make new memories with, along with my family.

This fathers day is about reconnecting, reaching out, face-timing, eating brunch, having a barbecue or taking a walk with that special male figure whom we call dad, brother, uncle, grandpa or neighbor.
